Carat
The standard measure of weight used to weigh Diamonds is known as Carat. One Carat is equal to one-fifth of a gram (1carat = 0.2 grams). The term carat was introduced in 1907. A diamond that weighs 1 carat is also equal to 100 points. For example, a 1 carat diamond is far more expensive than 2 half carat diamonds of the same quality. The weight and size of a diamonds should be evaluated differently.
Clarity
The clarity of diamond is measured in 10x Loupe magnification by Gemological Institute of America (GIA). The clarity of a diamond is based on the presence of flaws in the diamond of on the surface of the diamonds. Most of the diamonds has similar characteristics and most of the flaws are not visible to naked human eye. Inclusions causes more impact on the grade, value and beauty of a diamond.
Color
The color of the diamond has one of the biggest impacts on the value of the diamond, after the weight factor. A colorless diamond has whiter appearance. The Gemologist Institute of America has set proper guidelines to grade the diamonds by colors. Diamond of a “D” grade color is considered to be colorless. On the other hand a diamond with color more intense than “Z” is considered as a fancy diamond. A fancy yellow diamond creates a much higher value and price than a light yellow diamond.
Cut
The cut isone of the most crucial and important feature out of the 4C features of a diamond. Diamond Traders mentions cut as ‘MAKE' and cut is the only feature that is easily manageable by human being. The total height of a properly cut Diamond should be between 58-62% of the total width of the Diamond
